The National Equestrian Centre

The Centre was established in 1989 and is situated at the beautiful mansion Vilhelmsborg. The old buildings are renovated and new have been built, a.o. indoor and outdoor arenas. An overview can be found under "Find us".

The equestrian centre appear today as a modern riding and show ground with facilities of international standard and quality, that can accommodate large events in horse competitions and breeding. Other areas of activity includes: Hippological educations, business conferences, courses in dressage, jumping, eventing, etc..
Furthermore, the center holds a first class gourmet restaurant and a cafeteria in the big show arena.

Vilhelmsborg is located in a historic and nature attractive landscape close to Denmark's second largest city Aarhus.

The equestrian centre is run non-profit in municipality by the town of Aarhus, Aarhus Riding Club, Danish Warmblood and the Danish Research & Knowledge Centre for Horses. His Royal Highness Prince Henrik is the patron. Approximately 55 million DKr is invested in renovation of old buildings and new settlements.

Riding lessons, schooling of horses and stabling:

Breeding association and tests:
Danish Warmblood is in charge of material tests for young breeding stallions and mares, as well as host for elections and shows. Danish Warmblood also arrange the annual selection of stallions in Herning. Telephone +45 8747 5400 or homepage www.varmblod.dk.

Historical collection:
Hippological Society Vilhelmsborg is an association with the primary aim to collect and keep litterature and other material about the horse throughout the ages. The library has about 300 books and journals and a collection of 300 videofilms og slide series. The library is placed in the old master stable. Take a look at www.hippologisk.dk

Eating and dining:

Café Vilhelmsborg, the cafeteria, is open for the audience at arrangements in the big show arena, at the outdoor jumping stadium, and at the pony trotting track.

Other organisations:
The Danish Riding Society and the local area counsil hold meetings and courses in the riders and trainers educations, and for officials in the sport. The facilities are used for several big equestrian events every year, and courses- and conference facilities are also lend to other organisations and to privates.
